The following are detailed guidelines for authors to follow when preparing and submitting manuscripts for the International Journal of Educational Practices and Engineering (IJEPE). Adherence to these guidelines ensures consistency and quality of publications, facilitating an efficient editorial process.
1. General Requirements
Manuscripts must be original work that has not been previously published or under consideration for publication in another journal. Authors must guarantee that their work is completely original, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, this must be properly cited.
- Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format.
- Font: A clear and legible font such as Times New Roman, size 10 is recommended.
- Use a tool such as Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote for reference management and formatting, and choose IEEE style.
- Make sure your article is prepared using the IJEPE article template.
- Download the template in Microsoft Word format.
2. Article Types
The journal accepts a variety of article types for review and possible publication, including:
- Research Articles: Present original results of empirical or theoretical research in the fields of educational practices and engineering.
- Review Articles: Offer a comprehensive analysis of the state of the art in a specific area, providing a critical synthesis of the existing literature.
- Case Studies: Describe the application of educational practices or engineering techniques in specific contexts, highlighting lessons learned and their practical relevance.
- Technical Articles: Report on recent developments in innovative technologies or methodologies applied to education or engineering.
- Short Notes: Short communications that present preliminary results or concise discussions on recent advances.
3. Article Submission
Manuscripts can only be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Authors must create an account or log in to the portal and follow the instructions to upload their manuscript. During the submission process, authors will be asked to provide:
- Manuscript title.
- Abstract:No more than 250 words, highlighting the objectives, methodology, results, and main conclusions.
- Keywords: Up to five terms that adequately describe the content of the article.
- Author details: including affiliations and e-mail addresses of all authors, highlighting the corresponding author.
- Conflict of interest statements.
4. Article Structure
Manuscripts should follow the standard structure to facilitate understanding and review of the content:
- Title
- Authors and Affiliations
- Abstract
- Key words
- Introduction
- Literature Review (if applicable)
- Methodology
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusions
- References
Each section should be clearly defined with appropriate subheadings.
5. Length of the Article
The length of the article should be in accordance with the type of manuscript submitted:
- Research and Review Articles: Between 6,000 and 10,000 words, excluding references, tables and figures.
- Case Studies and Technical Articles: Between 4,000 and 6,000 words.
- Short Notes: Up to 3,000 words.
6. Language
Manuscripts may be written in English and Spanish. Authors whose native language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed by a native speaker or a professional editing service before submission.
7. Double Blind Peer Review
All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process, where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous. This process ensures impartiality and objectivity in the evaluation of the work. Authors must remove any information that may reveal their identity in the manuscript, such as specific acknowledgements or references to previous work by the authors.
8. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to maintain the highest standards of ethical integrity in the preparation and presentation of their work. This includes:
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their manuscript is original and contains no plagiarised material. Misuse of the works of others, without proper attribution, will be considered a serious misconduct.
- Author Contributions: All authors listed in the manuscript must have made significant contributions to the work and agree with the final version submitted.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their work.
9. Compliance with Ethical Standards
Manuscripts involving human or animal research must comply with applicable international and national ethical standards. Authors must provide a statement confirming ethical approval by an institutional committee where appropriate, and must ensure that human subjects have provided informed consent.
10. Research Data Policy and Data Availability Statements
The journal promotes transparency and accessibility of research data. Authors are encouraged to make the data underlying their studies available in open access repositories, where possible. Authors should include a statement in the manuscript indicating where and how the data can be accessed.

11. Open Access Publishing
IJEPE follows an open access policy, which means that all published articles are freely accessible to the general public. This facilitates the global dissemination of knowledge and ensures that research is available without barriers to payment.
